Opposite End

by Fa Hu

As a little girl
I'd go to the park
wearing hand-me-downs and hope.
I'd run to the see saws
but there was no one to lift no one
      to share it with
no friend for the opposite end. I'd
      stroll to the swings
sway back and forth
only daring to wish
for just one friend
only one
just someone for the see saw
for the opposite end
